Volunteer on the Garden Route

Come and experience life on the Garden Route of South Africa while making a difference to someone else’s life!

In this idyllic seaside location we are not immune to the social ills that plague our beautiful country. We identified the need to empower our community, first and for most the children. Since then our surf and adventure project has formed the backbone of all our social responsibility initiatives.

Our community development project aims to uplift the most vulnerable children in our society by providing mentorship and an opportunity to learn through sport.

Project Information

Sedgefield is located on the Garden Route in the Western Cape Province, 5 hours' drive from Cape Town and 3 hours from Port Elizabeth. The closest airport is George Airport which is approximately 50 minutes' drive from Sedgefield.

"The Afro Surfers" is a community driven initiative that was started in May 2015. The program takes children from underprivileged backgrounds and communities out of the townships and exposes the children to opportunities and experiences they would not ordinarily have had. Our program aims to teach valuable life lessons through sporting activities, adventure activities, teamwork and educational classes.

In addition to surf and swim lessons volunteers are also work at local pre-schools / kindergardens. These schools are for children aged between 0 - 6 years old.
